Why do a DBS?

Are you ready to see transformation in your own life, and in the lives of those around you?  The DBS gives you an opportunity to dig deep into the Bible, read through all 66 books, and gain an overall perspective of God’s story.
You will learn techniques for effective Bible study, and a series of guest speakers will help unlock the Bible’s fascinating content.
Although each book is studied to discover its original intent, you will also be taught on different themes that run through God’s story. For example, you might look at Leadership and Worship as you study the life of David in 1 & 2 Samuel, Chronicles, and the Psalms. Each book is filled with insights to be discovered and applied!
In addition to putting God’s truth into practice in your personal life, you will have the opportunity to go on a two week outreach and share God’s words with individuals and communities in Papua New Guinea.

Why Papua New Guinea?

Papua New Guinea is one of the most diverse nations on earth with over 800 languages and 1,000 tribes! It is known as the land of the unexpected, and is a nation ready for discipleship and open to God’s word.

School Leader

Katrina Musselman

Hello! My name is Katrina. I’m originally from Canada, and I’ve been serving with YWAM since I did my DTS in 2016 in Townsville, Australia. I first came to Papua New Guinea on my DTS outreach and have come to love the beauty within this nation. Not only the beauty of the landscapes and incredible sunsets, but the beauty of the people and the culture – the strong emphasis on family and community, the heart for celebration, and the desire to know God more deeply.

When I think about the DBS, I can’t help but dream about all that God wants to do through people who will not just hear his word, but put it into action, allowing it to transform their lives. He didn’t just give us his word as a good story, but he reveals himself to us through that story. We learn about a God who loves unconditionally, who wants to partner with his people, and who brings abundant life.  But we don’t just learn about him. As we dive deeper into his story, we encounter him more and more. And as we encounter him, and allow him to transform us, we make a ripple effect that transforms our communities and nations.

I’m constantly in awe of the ways God has invited me to be a part of his story and can’t wait to see all that is to come in Papua New Guinea and beyond!
