Why do a DBS?

Have you ever wanted to share your faith, but felt you lacked knowledge about the Bible? Do you have a desire to know and apply the Word of God to your life, but never quite figured out how to do it effectively? Have you tried to understand but never had your questions answered? Then a Discipleship Bible school (DBS) is a great place for you!

Through 12 weeks of DBS you will get an overview of God’s redemptive story and read through all 66 books of the bible chronologically. You will learn more about the historical setting and genre of each book and learn to understand the law, covenants, prophecy and how Jesus fulfilled it all. As we read through the books of the Bible we study topics like leadership, worship, worldview, missions and calling. We will have lecture times, one-on-ones, small groups, and outreaches in the community. Through the school you also learn how to lead an effective small group bible study. This school will better equip you to engage and apply the Word of God to your life and be able to pass it on to others. A Discipleship Bible School is a great place to continue what you started in your DTS.

Why Skien, Norway?

The YWAM Skien base is situated in the city center of Skien, in an old prison built in 1891. Up until the 1980’s there were prisoners living in the cells, but now the building is filled with young people from many nations that have a common desire to know Jesus and to make him known.

Ywam Skien is a young and vibrant base, there is always things going on. Since it was founded in 1995 it has been a training base with a focus on missions and evangelism among young people in Norway, Europe and the nations. We have a strong emphasis on worship, fellowship and community; we have many ministries and great diversity but we are a family that laugh, cry and worship God together. We believe that developing a loving relationship with God through the Word and worship, in fellowship, is the source of life and we want this to be the center point of everything we do.
