Virtual DBS

What is a Discipleship Bible School (DBS)?
During this 12-week introduction to the Bible, students will receive an overview of “God’s story” and discover more of his ways. Students will read the entire Bible, observe the chronology of biblical events, better understand each book in its historical context, understand the harmony between books, and recognize the different genres of literature and major themes found in all 66 books. By going directly to the source, students will learn foundational truths of the Christian faith.

Why do a DBS?

We can listen to some good sermons, have good conversations with friends – or we could go directly to the source God has given us and know it for ourselves. The Bible is the foundation to our faith, and gives us many of the answers that people are asking.
Meet With God: God is inviting us to engage in His Word – not because we have to, but because it gives God great joy to connect with your heart as you do. You’ll see His plan to redeem mankind from Genesis to Revelation, get to know His perfect character, and even begin to see how you fit into His story!
Have Fun Learning With Others: Ever started reading the Bible but have a hard time finishing it? Wished you had someone to process it with? A DBS enriches what you get out of God’s Word as you listen to others and enjoy going through the text together! This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is PHOTO-2020-04-13-10-56-20-5-1024x768.jpg
Get Equipped: By the end of the DBS, our aim is that you feel confident in leading a small group discussion, giving a basic introduction to any book, and sharing an overview of the Bible. Whether you’re new to doing ministry or have been doing it for years, you can gain new tools to help connect others with God’s Word. “He has enabled us to be ministers of His new covenant. this is a covenant not of written laws, but of the Spirit. The old written covenant ends in death; but under the new covenant, the Spirit gives life” (2 Cor. 3:6)

Why do the virtual DBS?

Especially with the Corona virus crisis going on right now we believe it is important that we do our best to utilize the tools and technology we have available to engage with one another and build community. The DBS is meant to cultivate growth through discipleship and community and we think that through creatively using different online programs we can help lift one another up. And as we have all faced barriers and setbacks in our “normal” lives, we also have an amazing opportunity to enter into a time, set apart, to study the word of God.

What do I need?
Quality wifi, a laptop or digital device (with a working camera and microphone feature) to connect to group video chat and to be able to turn in homework online.

What should I do if I’m interested?
Have an ask around your base community and see if there are others that are also interested, because it would be fun to do this school together! It will be helpful if you can find someone that has done a Bible school with YWAM to help lead your small group as a “staff”from your location. If you can’t find anyone else from your community, then let’s talk and we’ll work something out with you. Send us an email with your first and last name, birth date, nationality, current YWAM location, base leader’s contact information, and let us know your English Proficiency level.
